Loneliness makes us as sick as 15 cigarettes a day and politicians take advantage of it to make us jealous.
Rented friends, paid influencers to eat with you on Zoom, robot to sit with sick mom and Fomo, the fear of missing out on social media. Despite hundreds of friends on social media , however, many people remain alone, and this makes them physically ill, induces feelings of social non-belonging and exclusion, and thus makes them easy prey for extremist and populist politicians who deal with it, with enmity . We pay the costs of loneliness with our health, our economy and our democracy.
